Research Interests
My research interests are focused on how neuroimaging methods, specifically EEG and fNIRS, can be used to better understand reading comprehension.

Current Projects
My current projects investigate how learning fake words with matching vs. mismatching representational gestures affects later integration and comprehension of those learned words in semantically-congruent and semantically-incongruent read sentential contexts. This question is investigated in multiple studies using a self-paced reading and an EEG paradigm.

Project Purpose:

To investigate the interaction between sexual objectification x rs6311 genotype on adult female eating disorder onset. Results indicated A allele carriers who experienced sexual objectification were more likely to display eating disorder behavior than G/G homozygotes.

Project Purpose:

To better understand specific neural predictors of reading development in children with and without hearing loss. The results of which helped to inform intervention strategies built to improve reading in early childhood education.
